We design the plug, the flex, and the contacts. Then we build them here.

Most EV cables use generic components sourced from multiple suppliers. We took a different approach. Our Type 2 plug, cable flex, and hyperboloid contacts are all designed and manufactured in-house at our Buckinghamshire facility.

That gives us complete control over quality, lead times, and the ability to work with OEMs on custom specifications. If you need a plug shell with your branding, a flex with specific characteristics, or a complete cable assembly to your exact requirements, we can do it without relying on third parties.

Components and assemblies

Everything from individual components to complete cable assemblies, designed and built under one roof.

Type 2 plugs

Designed in-house. Glass-reinforced nylon body, ABS handle with rib reinforcement, UV-stabilised plastic. Horizontal parting line with moulded lip seal for water ingress protection. Serviceable and recyclable.

Wottz Cable Flex

The thinnest, lightest charging flex available. TPU injection moulded for flexibility without sacrificing durability. Oversized 0.75mm² pilot core for better signal integrity on longer cables. Custom colours with volume commitment.

Hyperboloid contacts

Precision-engineered for durability. Up to 10,000 mating cycles. Size-matched and hydraulically crimped to each conductor core. 5-micrometre hard silver plating for conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Complete assemblies

Plug, flex, contacts, and termination. Fully assembled cables built to your exact specification, tested across 28 points, and shipped with individual test certificates.

From brief to production

Step 1

Share your brief

Tell us what you need. Component specs, volumes and branding requirements. We will review and come back with a proposal.

Step 2

Prototype and test

We build prototypes for your team to evaluate. Test them, stress them, fit them to your vehicles. We iterate until the spec is exactly right.

Step 3

Production

Once approved, we produce at scale. Every unit tested to the same standard as the prototype. Flexible scheduling that scales with your production volumes.

Our plugs survive being run over by a car. We tested.

ABS handle with rib reinforcement withstands crushing forces. Glass-reinforced nylon body resists heat and wear. UV-stabilised plastic prevents brittleness from sun exposure. Built for real-world conditions, not just lab conditions.

Why OEMs choose Wottz

Vertically integrated

Plug design, flex production, contact crimping, cable assembly, and testing all happen under one roof. No outsourcing, no delays, no surprises.

Designed in the UK

Our engineering team designed every component. When you need a modification, you are talking to the people who created it.

Serviceable and recyclable

No resin or rubber potting. Recyclable materials throughout. ROHS compliant. Locally sourced components for a lower carbon footprint.

Your branding, our build

Laser printing, custom outer-shell tooling, branded packaging. The cable becomes part of your vehicle's identity.

Common questions from OEMs

Can you modify plug shell tooling for our brand?

Yes. We work with our tooling partners to incorporate your logo and design elements into the plug outer shell. We will walk you through the options and timelines.

What custom colours are available?

Standard production runs in black, blue, and yellow. Custom colours are available with a 10,000m flex commitment. We can also colour-match to your brand specification.

What certifications do the components carry?

All components and assemblies are built and tested to IEC 62196, IEC 61851, BS EN 50620, the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations, and the Low Voltage Directive.

What are the lead times for custom components?

Standard components ship next day. Custom tooling takes four to eight weeks depending on complexity. Once tooling is done, production lead times match our standard range.

Can you supply components only, without full assembly?

Yes. We supply plugs, flex, and contacts as individual components if you handle assembly in-house. Same quality, same testing on the components themselves.

What volumes do you work with?

From prototype quantities through to full production runs. Our build-to-order model means we scale with your demand rather than requiring large upfront commitments.

Got a different question?

Our engineering team is happy to discuss your requirements.

We needed a plug that could survive real-world abuse, not just pass a lab test. The Wottz hyperboloid contact design was the only one that met our durability spec without compromise.
