More Than a Granny Charger

The Wottz Portable Charger is a proper charging solution, not a compromise. Built around intelligent Mode 2 technology with real time supply plug temperature monitoring, it adjusts to keep you and your vehicle safe.

The UK version charges at up to 10A (2.4kW) from a standard 3-pin socket. The Schuko version delivers up to 12A (2.8kW). And the Commando version unlocks the full 7kW single-phase for serious charging speed from a dedicated outlet.

Every unit is assembled and tested in our UK facility before shipping.

What Our Customers Say

The quality is leagues ahead of any other charging cable I've used. Lightweight, flexible, and beautifully made. You can tell this was designed by people who actually care about the product.

— James T.

I've tried three different EV cables before finding Wottz. The difference in build quality is immediately obvious. The flex is incredibly light and easy to handle, even in the rain.

— Sarah M.

Ordered a 7.5m cable and it arrived the next day. The carry bag is a nice touch. Everything about this feels premium. From the packaging to the plug design. Won't be going anywhere else.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which power socket option should I choose?

UK 3-pin (10A) is the most versatile. Plug into any domestic socket and charge at up to 2.4kW. Ideal for overnight charging at home, visiting family, or holiday lets.

Schuko (12A) is the European standard. If you're driving to France, Germany, or anywhere in mainland Europe, this is the one to pack.

Commando (7kW) connects to a 32A single-phase industrial outlet. If you have a dedicated Commando socket installed (or plan to), this delivers full 7kW charging speed without needing a wallbox.

How fast does it charge?

Charging speed depends on the power socket:

UK 3-pin: up to 2.4kW (10A). A typical 60kWh battery charges from 20% to 80% in roughly 15 hours.

Schuko: up to 2.8kW (12A). Slightly faster than UK 3-pin.

Commando: up to 7kW (32A single-phase). A typical 60kWh battery charges from 20% to 80% in around 5 hours.

The charger automatically negotiates the maximum safe current with your vehicle.

Is it safe to charge from a standard socket?

Yes, when using a properly designed Mode 2 charger like the Wottz Portable. The built-in control unit manages the charging session, monitors the supply plug temperature in real time, and will reduce or stop charging if it detects any issue.

We recommend using a dedicated socket (not an extension lead or multi-plug adapter) and having your wiring checked by an electrician if you plan to charge regularly from the same outlet.

Can I use it abroad?

Yes. The Schuko version plugs directly into European sockets found in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and most of mainland Europe. If you have the UK version, you would need a travel adapter rated for the appropriate current.

Many customers buy both a UK and Schuko version to cover all scenarios.

Do I need Type 1 or Type 2?

Type 2 is the standard for almost all modern EVs sold in the UK and Europe. If you drive a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW, Tesla, Hyundai, Kia, MG, Polestar, or Volvo, you need Type 2.

Type 1 (J1772) is used by some older vehicles, including early Nissan Leafs (pre-2018), Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some older American imports.
